42GHz Linear Transmitter for Multicarrier DVB-S Broadcasting

Technical report

ELVA-1 announces that a new transmitter allows launching four QPSK-modulated carriers with approximately 40Mbps stream capacity for an each carrier, resulting of 160Mbps stream for one 90-degree sector transmitter. A set of the four transmitters can cover 360-degree sphere with 640Mbps of the total stream. On the client side with ELVA's MVDS Client Receiver installed, a consumer can use any of market-available satellite tuners to detect broadcasted TV channels and watch them on a home TV set. The transmitter allows broadcast Internet as well as TV programs. For the receiving of Internet a client can use standard IP DVB receivers.

With standard 640Mbps of 360-degree stream, the system based on 42GHz Linear Transmitter for Multicarrier DVB-S Broadcasting is easy up-scalable product. Thus a communication service provider can install more than one of the transmitters in each 90-degree sector, pumping the total stream to a Gigs capacity. The scalability is limited only by MPT 1560 standard allowing transmitting up to 48 channels in each polarization (96 channels in total) for 40.5 - 42.5GHz band. New ELVA's transmitters are the real breach in the MVDS technology while only 200Mbps per sector is the maximum capacity currently available from other vendors.

During the field testing, ELVA's 42GHz Linear Transmitter broadcasted 8 TV programs in each of the four carriers in 90-degree sector. With 150mW transmitter output, the max cell distance is up to 5km in radius. See the enclosed oscillogram illustrated frequency spectrum for four carrier QPSK signal obtained from IF-output of client receiver during field testing.
