ELVA-1 Millimeter Wave Division Announces New 350Mbps Series Wireless E-band and Q-band Links with Adaptive Code and Modulation (ACM)

ELVA-1 Millimeter Wave Division recently began production of their new PPC-350 Series Radio Links at 40.5-43.5 GHz (Q-band) and 71-76/81-86 GHz (E-band) , with 350Mbps full-duplex data capacity. The unique feature of these millimeter wave data bridges is that they automatically adapts their transmission and reception speed to changes in environmental conditions.

PPC-350

ELVA-1's new PPC-350 radios feature Adaptive Code and Modulation (ACM), which changes coding rate and modulation in real time, based on local climate conditions. This feature increases radio link availability over a variety of conditions. When the link`s SNR (Signal to Noise Ratio) is high (e.g., during good weather), the radio link operates at its full data capacity of 350Mbps. If the link`s SNR drops significantly (during heavy rain, for example), the capacity is automatically adjusted in steps to a minimum of 80Mbps full-duplex.

PPC-350 links are equipped with SNMP management control, which allows a network administrator or technician to remotely control the operating parameters of all radios in a network from any location with network access. Depending on your climate region, the PPC-350's operating distance in 10mm/h rain density ranges up to 5 miles (7.9 km) for Q-band and up to 3.3 miles (5.5 km) for E-band, at 350Mbps full-duplex capacity. It also operates flawlessly at outside temperatures from -40 to +50 C (-40 to +122 F).

The advantages of the millimeter wave frequency range are that it allows more closely located adjacent communications links, thus providing very efficient spectrum utilization, and it can increase the security of your communication transmissions. Digital radio equipment in the 40.5-43.5 GHz millimeter wave frequency range is currently rare, because of the design challenges at these frequencies. However, the wide 3 GHz band available in this range enables broadband communications by allowing increased channel size and data transmission capacity. ELVA-1 is currently unique in offering government agency certified radio links for broadband wireless data transmission in the 40.5-43.5 GHz millimeter wave frequency band. ELVA-1 was also the first company in the world market to produce a gigabit capacity 71-86 GHz digital radio link that was designed to satisfy both European ECC and US FCC performance requirements.

PPC-350 radio bridges function in the same manner as a fiber optic cable that is physically connected from one node to another, in that the link is completely transparent to your data. This transparency also applies to any data control features, such as forward error correction (FEC). Whatever coding schemes your data stream contains will remain intact to its destination.

The link's large data transmission capacity enables network operators to provide a vast range of services, including Triple Play (the transmission of IPTV, video on demand and VoIP services at the same time), WiFi or mobile network backhaul links, business WAN or IP telephony gateway connections, MAN metropolitan area networks and rapid-deployment emergency communications. Moreover, millimeter-wave radio links are an ideal solution to extend many digital services quickly and easily into areas that are difficult or costly to connect with new fiber optic cable.

PPC-350 has been successfully tested in real-world applications, and was given high marks for trouble-free operation. This equipment is provided as a comprehensive link kit, with antennas, mounting brackets and accessories to support turnkey installation into the customer's communication system.
