DAS PHOTONICS successfully performed field tests of ELVA-1`s PPC-1000 Gigabit Ethernet Radio Link.

Spanish company DAS PHOTONICS stayed very delighted with test results of Gigabit Ethernet Radio Link designed by ELVA-1 Millimeter Wave Division.

ELVA-1 company, a world leader in ultra high speed wireless communication technologies, proceeded with instillation its PPC-1000 full-duplex point-to-point Gigabit Ethernet Radio Links in Europe. After Hungary and Czech Republic, PPC-1000 Radio Bridge 71-76/81-86 frequency band have been purchased by Spanish company - DAS PHOTONICS. This is spin-off company from the Valencia Nanophotonics Technology Center at the Universidad Politecnica de Valencia.

Before the installation of 1.25 Gbps Bridge on the real line DAS PHOTONICS decided to arrange bench tests. Its results exceeded all expectations. It was revealed that all PPC-1000 parameters met all of its declared specification completely.

The conducted tests have also confirmed that ELVA-1 1.25 Gigabit Radios satisfied the specified requirements of CE Mark, which is essential for equipment used in Europe.

Radio Bridge PPC-1000 was installed to cover 1.3 km distance between the company office and laboratory. DAS PHOTONICS has ordered IP Network tester CMA 3000 from ANRITSU and performed the field test. The network part was tested by streams with different frames size (64, 512, 1024, 1518, 9000 Bytes) and shows throughputs of PPC-1000 at 997.754 Mbps with zero frame loss. This test confirmed again that PPC-1000 are not active network devices they function in the same manner as a fiberoptic cable that is physically connected end-to-end. Their large data transmission capacity make this Gigabit Ethernet link an ideal solution for Wi-Fi or mobile network extension and backhaul links, business WAN or IP telephony gateway connections, metropolitan area networks and rapid-deployment emergency communications.

The test was performed under standard RFC2544 specification.

The testing scheme:

As we can see SNMP monitoring attenuation is 32dB that corresponds to rated attenuation on distance of 1,3 km in a fair weather with 600 mm antennas.

The conformity of ELVA-1`s PPC-1000 to ECC 71-76/81-86 frequency band requirements allows all European Countries to use it for wireless connections. An advantage of the 71-76 and 81-86 GHz frequency bands is the freedom from interference from other nearby radio links, even those operating in the same bands. Multipath reflections are non-existent at these frequencies, and the narrow beam width of the Cassegrain Antenna allows many radio links to work simultaneously in the same area. And this band can increase security of communication transmissions.

ELVA`s PPC-1000 digital radio provide full duplex wireless Ethernet data pipelines that are equivalent in capacity to 512 E1 lines or 2 …5 lines in PDH. The operating distances of this Radio Link is up to 12 miles, depending on rain intensity. It utilizes Gigabit Ethernet protocols, which is the evolving standard for switches and routers available from a variety of telecommunication equipment manufacturers. The operating frequencies include 40.5-43.5GHz, 71-76 & 81-86 GHz, and 92-95 GHz. ELVA-1 is just one manufacturer in the broadband market to offer multi Gigabit-per-second 40.5-43.5 GHz frequency band radio-links.

These point-to-point links are equipped with an SNMP management function, allowing a network administrator or technician to remotely control the operating parameters of all PPC-1000-E radios in the network from a central location.

Gigabit Radio fiber-class data performance enables to provide a vast range of services, including Triple Play, which is the transmission of IPTV, video on demand and VoIP services at the same time.
